Actors-In-Residence
Adishakti’s Actors-in-Residence program is a two-year commitment designed for actors and performing artists to immerse themselves in the world of theatre arts. It involves learning and practicing Adishakti’s unique performance methodology, which focuses on breath, emotions, rhythm, energy centers, and voice. The program provides opportunities to learn from inside and outside the theatre world, perform in Adishakti productions, and tour with the company.
The application design should be in the same format as training.

- Statement of Interest in Theatre (Write a brief statement (1-2 paragraphs) explaining your passion for theatre.)
Include how you got started, what excites you about acting, and what you hope to achieve through the Actors in Residence program [AIR] - Resume / CV (Provide a detailed bio including)
- Theatre Productions: List all the theatre productions you have been part of, including the title of the play, your role, and the theatre company or venue.
- Film Productions: List any film or OTT, projects you have been involved in, including the title of the film, your role, and the production company or director.
- Physical Training and Expertise
Detail your physical training background (e.g., dance, stage combat, yoga) and any physical expertise you have that could benefit your acting.
Attach a video showcasing your physical abilities. This could be a demo reel or a specific routine that highlights your skills.
- Music Preferences
State the genre(s) of music you listen to most often.
List five of your favorite songs or musical selections that you draw inspiration from or that influence your work as an actor.

Reading List
List the last five books you’ve read, including the title and author.
Mention how any of these books have influenced your approach to theatre.
- Acting bodies
Video 1- Craft an improvisation of your choice that incorporates speech, physicality, and dynamic movement throughout the space. Ensure that the performance remains active and fluid, avoiding any static moments.

AIR Participants

Shreya Agarwal
Shreya Agarwal is a performance artist, teacher and drama facilitator, currently based out of the Adishakti Laboratory of Theatre Art and Research. She is a multimedia and mass communication graduate of the IP College for Women, Universiy of delhi and has a post graduate diploma in Liberal Arts (Young India Fellowship) from Ashoka University.
» more As a recipient of the Refunction grant by the Goethe Institut-New Delhi, Shreya designed and directed Maya (2022). The project collected and artistically disclosed the selected dreams of individuals experiencing the socio-political fabric of pandemic in the form of a theatrical performance. She directed the short play, Khwabghar (Delhi, 2022) which premiered as part of Mithya, an anthology of plays by the Third Space Collective. Her recent acting works include Spiral (Delhi, 2024), a solo piece directed by Mohit Mukherjee and Clay (Delhi, 2023), directed by Manishikha Baul, written and produced by Jyotsna Siddharth. She has also worked with theatre groups such as Third Space Collective and Crow. Shreya has been teaching Critical Thinking and facilitating drama workshops aimed at developing self awareness and critical thinking skills at Vedica Scholars Programme for Women for four years now. She also worked with Prof. Aseem Srivastava on his course Global Ecosophy at Ashoka University, utilising theatre as a pedagogical tool, adapting Tagore’s Sadhana and Red Oleanders to facilitate deeper, more experiential learning. Her desire to deeply understand the body and breath, the vital instruments of performance, led her to Adishakti. » less

Rouhi Sanyal
Rouhi is currently training and working as a theatre artist at Adishakti Laboratory for Theatre Art and Research while pursuing a B.A. (Honors) in English Literature at Miranda House, University of Delhi. She began her theatre journey with her college dramatics society, performing in the street play Unregistered across Delhi University colleges, IIT BHU and Chandigarh and in Badal Sircar’s Pagla Ghoda directed by Rajiv Kohli at LTG, blank canvas, Delhi.

Beyond performing, Rouhi has a keen interest in scriptwriting and filmmaking, having worked on two in-house short film productions with Celluloid, Miranda House’s filmmaking team and as a social media manager at Zostel, Auroville. With a growing passion for acting, dancing, writing and filmmaking Rouhi wishes to explore and expand her skills at Adishakti, committed to evolving as a versatile artist.

Sukanth Thakur
Sukanth Thakur is an Indian actor, singer, fitness instructor and play director, who predominantly works in Theatre, Bollywood & North Indian cinema. He did his Master degree in Theatre from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata.He also passed out from National School of Drama,Varanasi(Indian Classical Theatre).
Currently, he is a Performing Artist working in Pondicherry at Adishakti Laboratory for Theatre Art & Research.

Nithin Murali
Nithin Murali is an actor, dancer, model and anchor. He holds a postgraduate degree in Chemistry from the Central University of Pondicherry.
